I ended up in the ER last night with severe throat pain. I couldn’t talk at all, and I had no idea how impossible it is to get non-verbal attention from my kids.
I’m miming that I need help while silently dying inside thinking if this was a real emergency I’d be dead… and one of them gets upset because they think I’m pretending they’re deaf. 🤦
In fairness they were with me at the hospital and between sobbing kept telling me they’ll carry on learning about grit and that they’ll take up carving in my honor. But im not dead, nor am I dying, but they definitely took my heart. ❤️
Turns out it was a pretty nasty infection. Today I’m grateful for many things such as antibiotics, medical science, and a great hospital. My throat? Absolutely not on that list.
Since I couldn’t take part in the family Thanksgiving shenanigans, I spent the day carving a little turtle family and a “giftopotamos.” Time just melts away.
